His How I Met Your Mother co-star Josh Radnor recently made his directorial debut with the Sundance fav happythankyoumoreplease. Now it is Neil Patrick Harris‘ turn.
THR is reporting that the star is set to direct a romantic comedy titled Aaron and Sarah, with Emma Roberts (It’s Kind of a Funny Story, Valentine’s Day) and Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right, Journey To The Center of the Earth) to lead.
Originally titled B.F.F., the story will follow “a geeky guy and a popular girl who become friends as freshmen in high school and see their relationship deepen through the four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation.” It was written by Pushing Daisies partners Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey with David O. Russell and Joe Nussbaum attached to direct at one point.
The story sounds like a pseudo continuation to Rob Reiner‘s underrated and underseen summer box office failure Flipped. That story told the pre-high school years and with Harris at the helm I’m sure there will be more comedy. I’m excited to see Hutcherson and Roberts together as they are two of my favorite teen actors.
Are you a fan of NPH? How does Aaron and Sarah sound?
