There seems to be a lot of medieval epics this year from Ridley Scott‘s Robin Hood to Kevin Macdonald‘s Eagle of the Ninth. Now, IGN has debuted the trailer for another Roman epic, Centurion. It is the latest film by Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Doomsday) and stars Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, and Olga Kurylenko. Check it out below or in HD over on IGN.

Plot: Britain, A.D. 117. Quintus Dias, the sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, marches north with General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon.

After Inglourious Basterds, Fish Tank, and Hunger I will watch anything Michael Fassbender does. While I’m not so hot on Marshall, being one of the few that hated The Descent, this does look pretty fun and less generic than Robin Hood.

Warner Brothers has not decided on a US release date yet, but expect it later this year.
