Angelina Jolie passed on it and almost killed the whole project, Rachel Weisz was considered and now Natalie Portman‘s been offered the heroine role in Alfonso Cuaron’s sci-fi film, co-starring Robert Downey Jr. [/Film] The film’s budget will be $80 million and Portman will play a cosmonaut who must travel back to Earth alone after the rest of her crew dies.
Portman’s having something of a career resurrection after her Star Wars fame, taking on adult roles in adult dramas like Brothers and the upcoming Darren Aronoksky psychological thriller Black Swan. What do you think of this potential casting change? Do you like Portman?
