Warner Brothers Pictures, who have been behind some successful reboots (Batman) and some not so successful ones (Terminator) have turned their attention to the video-game franchise Mortal Kombat, Bloody Disgusting reports.

Oren Uziel, who was responsible for the 2009 Black List hit, Shimmer Lake, is in talks to take the daunting task of turning a rather silly video-game series into a respectable and profitable film franchise. The 1995 Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure for many but even its biggest fans can admit to it not being anything approaching a good film. The 1997 sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, is widely considered one of the absolute worst films of the 90’s and killed the series for quite some time. Here is hoping they can do something better than Street Fighter : The Legend of Chun-Li.

Does a Mortal Kombat reboot excite you or is it impossible to make a good film out of the series?
