Brad Bird‘s Mission: Impossible IV has said goodbye to its May 27th release date as Paramount has announced it will now open on December 16th, 2011 (via ERC).
Tom Cruise will return to star and MI:3 director J.J. Abrams will co-produce along with him. Abrams is also helping Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum “craft” the screenplay.
MI:4 will now open a week before Steven Spielberg‘s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn and a week after Martin Scorsese‘s The Invention of Hugo Cabret, both in 3D. After the success of Avatar, Sherlock Holmes and the Squeakquel, all coming out in December, many studios are looking at it for big releases. Disney will release Tron Legacy this year and Warner Brothers is even planning the next Superman film for a December 2012 release.
Are you looking forward to another Mission: Impossible?
