Alex Holdridge was behind the ultra low-budget (and ultra impressive) In Search of a Midnight Kiss in 2008. It won the John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit awards (goes to the best film under a $500,000 budget). Now, according to LA Times, he is back with The F-Word.
He will direct the romantic comedy for Fox Searchlight. It is “about a young man and woman who harbor romantic interest for each other but must escape the platonic curse if they’re to make it work (or escape the romance hex if they’re to make a friendship work).” It is written by Elan Mastai, co-writer of Uwe Boll‘s Alone In The Dark. Let’s hope it ends up better that that.
Fox Searchlight did quite well with 500 Days of Summer, so I’m looking forward to another rom-com from the studio. Especially something from Holdridge. He was able to balance drama and comedy along with a great visual style (in black and white) with Midnight Kiss.
What do you think about The F-Word? Did you see Midnight Kiss?
