Michael Peña may be best known for his role in Crash, but I’ve been loving the actor’s exploration of recent comedic roles. Observe & Report, which is on its way to becoming a cult classic, first showed off this skill and he has recently re-teamed with Danny McBride in Eastbound & Down and will join him yet again this summer when 30 Minutes or Less hits theaters. Variety reports he will be getting back to his dramatic roots soon.

He will join End of Watch, the David Ayer cop drama we reported on last month. Peña will star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, who is coming off his impressive role in Duncan JonesSource Code. The film is a “gritty cop drama chronicles the friendship between two longtime partners.” Ayer has previously worked on Training Day, S.W.A.T., Street Kings, and Harsh Times, so don’t expect this film to be wildly different.

One can also see Peña in The Lincoln Lawyer and Battle: Los Angeles now, and Everything Must Go next month. He will appear in Brett Ratner‘s star-studded Tower Heist at the end of the year.
