Showbiz is reporting that breakout star Michael Fassbender (Hunger, Inglourious Basterds, Jonah Hex, Fish Tank, Centurion) has to decide between two roles: young Magneto in Matthew Vaughn‘s X-Men: First Class or the villain in Marc Webb‘s Spider-Man reboot. Not a bad place to be stuck in.
I think Showbiz has their facts wrong as they say Professor X, but James McAvoy has been signed on to play the role in First Class. I can only assume they mean young Magneto or Eric Lehnsherr, previously played by Ian McKellen. I absolutely love Fassbender’s work and I’m so glad he is getting these major opportunities. They are both projects helmed by great directors so I’m excited to see what he picks.
X-Men: First Class starts production this summer in London for a June 3rd, 2011 release.
Spider-Man will start production later this year for a July 3, 2012 release.
What should Fassbender choose?
