After working through their issues in sex therapy with this summer’s Hope Springs, Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones may once again be reunited. We reported on the latter actor’s next directorial effort earlier this summer, but early casting is now coming together.
The Wrap reports that Streep, along with Hilary Swank, have been included in a package out to possibly buyers for the drama titled The Homesman. While this attachment is early on in the process, and no signings have been made, it gives a strong indication for Jones’ top choices for leads. As we know, Jones originally signed on to produce and star in the film as well, which tracks “a pioneer woman and a claim-jumping rascal of a man (Jones) who usher three insane women on an odyssey from Nebraska to Iowa.”
Swank is currently eying the role of pioneer woman, while Streep is not confirmed but I could certainly see her taking the aforementioned odyssey. While the project is in the very early stages, this is already a strong ensemble for Jones long-awaited return behind the camera after 2005’s The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and he’ll next be seen in Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln.
What do you think of this possible cast?
