Well, there goes my number one reason for anticipating a sequel to Kenneth Branagh‘s Thor. Although he’s villainized a few Hollywood productions – namely Casino Royale – Pusher and Valhalla Rising star Mads Mikkelsen was set to get his biggest break-out thus far as the antagonist of Thor 2. But according to the actor himself, he’s opted to head the TV route instead.
In an interview with Zoomin Movies (via The Playlist), Mikkelsen confirmed his departure, “Yeah, that’s not happening unfortunately. I had a meeting with them, but they were a little too late. And then Hannibal came in, and everything just came in the same period, so now it’s not happening.” So while the actor seeps into the role of Hannibal Lecter, hopefully Marvel got the heads up, as they’ll need to find a new baddie for Chris Hemsworth to battle.
But from one upcoming NBC star to one of their staples, as Chuck lead Zachary Levi confirmed he’ll take part in Alan Taylor‘s superhero blockbuster, replacing Josh Dallas as Fandral. The actor revealed the news on The Tonight Show in Jay Leno, where he said he’ll also be attending Comic-Con this weekend. Check out all the videos below, as more info will likely hit with their upcoming panel.
Also starring Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Tadanobu Asano and Ray Stevenson, Thor 2 arrives on November 15th, 2013.
