Short, but exciting news, by way of director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo). The man’s new film, Never Let Me Go, written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later…, Sunshine) and starring Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield, has a release date: October 1st, 2010.

Romanek announced as much on his Twitter account:

NEVER LET ME GO is finally done and has a release date. It will appear in select cities starting October 1. Trailer on its way very soon.

I’m very excited for this film. Here’s the synopsis via IMDB:

An alternate history story of a woman who, as she reflects on her private school years in the English countryside, reunites with her two friends to face the dark secrets tied to their communal past.

Garland is a skilled writer with a penchant for science-fiction. With the visually-skilled Romanek at his side, not to mention the mad abundance of young acting talent, this one could/should be one to remember.

Are you anticipating Never Let Me Go? Do you like Romanek? Garland?
