Following shortly after Edgar Wright‘s rundown of his favorites of the year, another director has chimed with his top films of 2014. John Waters, after naming Spring Breakers the best film of last year, has revealed to Artforum his favorite 10 features (or 12, rather). At the top of the list is David Cronenberg‘s Maps to the Stars, which he says, is “hilariously funny and, dare I say it, yes, pernicious. I love this film more than I love my own mustache.”

Coming in second is one of our favorites of the year, the experimental 3D feature Charlie Victor Romeo, while Cahiers du cinéma’s number one film Li’l Quinquin made the cut, along with Lars von Trier‘s two-part Nymphomaniac, a trio of works from Joanna Hogg, underseen documentaries, and more. Check out the full list below, along with trailers and reviews where available, and see his write-ups at the source.
