The on-again/off-again couple of shock rocker Marilyn Manson and actress Evan Rachel Wood are definitely on again and the duo will even be appearing together in an upcoming film aptly titled Splatter Sisters. The couple, who have been dating since 2007, will be directed by Adam Bhala Lough, and the film is being conceived as a tribute to early 90’s direct-to-cable erotic thrillers.
This is an odd inspiration for the director that brought us the gritty realism of Bomb The System and Weapons but perhaps there is something more to the inspiration of the film that has yet to be revealed. David Gordon Green is one of the producers on the film which lends a bit of gravitas to the project.
The casting, however, is a bit dubious. Manson has never pulled off an effective acting performance outside of his music videos. He even managed to come across out of place portraying a club kid in the flamboyant indie film Party Monster. Wood, on the other hand, is a fairly competent actress and can perhaps teach the Antichrist Superstar a thing or two about acting.
Wood previously appeared alongside Manson in his music video for Heart Shaped Glasses.
