Last summer, Steven Knight‘s directorial debut, the Jason Statham-led Redemption, quietly slid into (and promptly out of) theaters, but the Eastern Promises writer is looking to make a bigger splash with his follow-up. Premiering last fall at Venice Film Festival, the real-time Locke features Tom Hardy in an intense drive as he tries to keep his life intact.
We’ve now got the first trailer, which gives us a small glimpse into the film, while not revealing too much of the plot. Running a lean 85 minutes, we’re looking forward to a film that pretty much solely features the lead, which hasn’t been the case since his break-out in Nicolas Winding Refn‘s Bronson. Check out the trailer and poster below for the film that also features Ruth Wilson, Olivia Colman, Andrew Scott, Tom Holland and Bill Milner.
Ivan Locke has crafted a nearly flawless life. Professionally, he is an obsessive perfectionist, respected by his coworkers and loved by his bosses. He cherishes the bond he shares with his two sons and the unshakeable partnership he has developed with his wife. This is the life he always imagined, an ideal existence built with painstaking care.
Hours before the biggest day of his career, Locke receives a phone call that threatens to destroy the life he has worked so meticulously to create. As he struggles to keep his world intact, he is forced to confront his imperfections and the fractured foundation where they are rooted.
Locke hits U.K. theaters on April 18th and U.S. theaters a week later.
