Variety reports, by celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comics, The Mirage Group has announced that they will be bringing a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to the big screen in 2011. There have been rumors about this re-boot before, but this is the first official confirmation.
The producer Scott Mednick stated, “We’re excited to bring this story to a whole new generation of moviegoers as well as the legions of fans that have made the Turtles – Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael as well as Splinter, April O’Neil, Casey Jones and, of course, the great villain Shredder – a part of their world for 25 years”
I would rather see a sequel to the 2007 animated TMNT, which I have always had a soft spot for. The original live action series wasn’t very successful at bringing the turtles to live, they were pretty clunky movies. I’m fine with a re-boot, but I don’t think they need to do an origin story for this, considering that its already been covered by all the other films.
