After recruiting Daft Punk for the Tron: Legacy score, director Joseph Kosinski will continue his trend of collaborating with top musical talent with his follow-up, Universal’s sci-fi blockbuster Oblivion. Led by Tom Cruise, we got a debut trailer for the post-apocalyptic film last month and now a small preview of the score from the French electronica band M83 has arrived.
Recorded during one of their sessions, the clip runs a short 50 seconds, but shows a different side from the band (who were also featured in the epic trailer for Cloud Atlas). Featuring a rapid-fire drum battle, it definitely increases our anticipation when it comes to the sound of Kosinski’s latest, but let’s just hope the story follows suit. Check it out below, along with a new still above, for the film also starring Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.
Oblivion arrives on April 12th.
