I’m not the most educated NBA fan out there, but even I know who Jeremy Lin is. Playing point guard for the New York Knicks, Lin has generated a very big internet following over the past few months — most know this as “Linsanity.” So, with all this attention, I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear that someone’s currently working on a documentary centered on the sensation. [24 Frames]
Said someone is Lin‘s longtime friend and filmmaker, Evan Jackson Leong, a former assistant to The Fast and the Furious‘ Justin Lin (no relation)c. Aside from his work on the upcoming documentary film 1040, Leong has been chronicling Lin‘s life candidly throughout their friendship. (I guess he knew all along that his NBA friend would make it big.)
408 Films and Endgame Entertainment will produce the film, but the whole release timeframe is currently a little foggy. Lin recently had knee surgery, which has pretty much prohibited him from playing the rest of the regular season and the 2012 playoffs. Although Lin‘s following has gathered a lot of steam over the past months, it’s hard to say if this will prolong the length it should take to edit and distribute the film.
What do you think of a Jeremy Lin documentary? Would you go see it?
