I generally don’t have very nice things to say about Liam Neeson. However, his representation of Hannibal Smith for Joe Carnahan‘s The A-Team was solidly entertaining, perfectly encapsulating the spirit of the TV show character. It seems now the two will be working together once more. THR is reporting that Neeson is in negotiations to star in Carnahan‘s The Grey.

The Grey, penned by Carnahan and Ian Jeffers is a survival story about a plane crash and the subsequent antics in the Alaskan wild. A team of oil workers, presumably led by Neeson‘s character, must fend of wild animals and the weather (it is Alaska, after all).

Bradley Cooper was supposed to star before negotiations fell through. I am not sure what kind of role translates very well between Cooper and Liam Neeson but it really seems like producers Scott Free, Jules Daly, and Bill Johnson are just fishing for a big name. That sort of thing usually doesn’t pan out very well, but we will see.

What is your favorite Liam Neeson role? Does he sound right for this role?
