CineFools recently talked to Land of The Lost director Brad Silberling who proclaimed that there is still a possibility for a sequel for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The adaptation of the best selling book series was released back in in 2004. Unfortunately the film wasn’t as successful as it was hyped out to be, but it soon came very profitable on DVD. The original idea was to produce more sequels based on the books.Brad Silberling stated,
“It was a co-production between Paramount and Dreamworks and there were studio politics and I actually think it’s going to see the light of day,” Silberling told cineFools. “[Name removed] and I, he’s the writer of… is very friendly with Mr. Snicket I should say, we stay in constant touch about it, because I would love nothing more than to do that and we’ve been hoping to, so I think there will be a chance it may take a wildly different form but I think it will probably happen.”
As a fan of the series, I’ve always been hopeful for a sequel. While I found myself slightly disappointed by the film, I also really enjoyed it. It was a good movie with a dark sense of humor even if it lacked the seriousness of the books. It does seem odd to do this now though since the original kids must have aged quite a bit by now, but it could still work even if there in their late teens. Lets hope this isn’t just talk and that this could actually happen.
Would you like to see this series be continued?
