J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg‘s Super 8 has been gathering buzz ever since its frustratingly awesome teaser trailer was unleashed earlier this year. Now, Vulture is reporting that Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Elle Fanning (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) are the first two actors cast in the upcoming sci-fi flick.
Additional confirmed details are nonexistent. At this point, the rumor mill says the film will take place in 1979 and will be an homage to Spielberg’s sci-fi from the ’70s and ’80s. Rumor also has it that the plot revolved around three siblings who find footage of an alien in some super 8 video they shot.
If you missed the teaser, check it out below. You may notice the words “Scariest Thing I Ever Saw” flash across the screen towards the end. That’s a reference to the film’s viral mystery site. A similar (and successful) viral campaign accompanied Abrams’s Cloverfield. See if you can figure this one out.
