With her last few feature film choices not going over so well, both on the studio side and the independent side, actress Keri Russell has decided to slide into somewhat safer territory for her next project, a follow-up to the surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
According to Variety, she will be joining Matt Reeves‘ ensemble for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but no word yet on her role. It’s safe to assume, out of the current ensemble (including Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee and Gary Oldman) that only Andy Serkis will be the one donning the motion-capture suit. The marks another reunion aside from the Let Me In connection, as Russell last worked with Reeves for her break-out role in Felicity.
Scripted by Mark Bomback, Dawn will take place fifteen years after the wake of Rise, throwing audiences into (an otherwise deserted) San Francisco inhabited by scientists. We’ll once again follow Andy Serkis‘ Caesar, who’s now trying to keep his fellow beings under control. As for Russell, her best work nowadays can been seen on FX with The Americans, but we’ll see her again when Dawn of the Planet of the Apes arrives on May 23rd, 2014.
Are looking forward to seeing Russell in blockbuster mode again?
