It seems The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow will no longer have trouble finding work. /Film reports that she will be directing the pilot for the new HBO show The Miraculous Year with a script by John Logan who also wrote The Aviator and The Last Samurai.
The show is “an examination of a New York family as seen through the lens of a charismatic, self-destructive Broadway composer.” Logan and Bigelow will both serve as executive producers as well. So far, there has only been a Pilot ordered by HBO but in Bigelow’s hands you can be sure there will be more.
It’s clear HBO is trying to find competition for some of the more mature dramas currently on television including Mad Men and True Blood. What better way than to put this along side Michael Mann‘s job on Work and Scorsese‘s work on Boardwalk Empire.
Do you think premium cable is a good way for directors to get exposure?
