After his surprise, but deserved Oscar nomination for A Better Life, actor Demian Bichir is carving his way into more Hollywood projects. With Savages released and Machete Kills coming next year, he’s now lined up another drama with some major talent already on board.
The actor has signed on to Dom Hemingway, the next project from Richard Shepard, who gave us the underrated comedy The Matador. Jude Law and Richard E. Grant joined the film this past spring, but with production kicking off soon the cast is being firmed up for the revenge-fueled black comedy. The project follows Law as a safe cracker, described as “funny, profane, dangerous,” and short-tempered. After finishing up a twelve-year prison sentence and being put back into society, the man takes it upon himself to “collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut.”
Bichir, who will be playing a crime boss in the film, isn’t the only casting though, as Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has come aboard in an undisclosed role. As a big dan of Shepard’s Pierce Brosnan-starrer hopefully he can bring the same amount of wit and fun to this project. With production set for October 15th in France, expect it to show up next year in theaters.
What do you think of the cast?
