The Playlist reports that Taylor Lautner‘s upcoming action film, Abduction, will be directed by John Singleton. The 42-year-old filmmaker has received critical acclaim for films like Boyz N the Hood, Rosewood and Baby Boy, but his credibility has dipped as of late after directing Four Brothers and 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Abduction was bought by Lionsgate for a price tag of $1 million, and shooting is set to commence this summer. Shawn Christensen penned the script, which revolves around a teen (Lautner) who discovers his own picture in a missing persons report, which leads him to uncover the truth about his family.
Abduction is currently in-development with a tentative release date some time in 2012.
