The trailers for Rupert Wyatt‘s Rise of the Planet of the Apes are continually getting better. We’ve had a teaser and a theatrical trailer, and now we have a short, more action-packed UK trailer. It brings more explosions (as you can see below) and our first honest look at John Lithgow, with whom James Franco seems to have some daddy issues with. But then he gets through his problems by befriending an ape; how touching. They star alongside Freida Pinto, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and Andy Serkis in Fox’s blockbuster. Check out the trailer below via FirstShowing.

Synopsis:

A single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other — and to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is breaking new ground, creating a CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence, and epic battles on which rest the upended destinies of man and primate.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters August 5th, 2011.

Is this film looking better and better to you? And not just because you had to sit through Green Lantern.
