The upcoming horror flick Red State already made headlines months ago when it was announced that comedian Kevin Smith would be taking the reigns as writer and director. Ever since then, fans have been dying to get their hands on a script, or a picture, or any hint as to what is going on with this film.
We had already received news of a good chunk of the main cast, and now another big name in tinseltown has come along to join the others. And that name is John Goodman. Yes, FirstShowing is reporting that your favorite TV dad, John Goodman, has signed on to work with Smith for this upcoming horror movie. Since the role of the preacher (based on the controversial founder of the Westboro Baptist Church Fred Phelps) already went to Michael Parks, we will have to wait and see who Goodman will be portraying in this gruesome movie.
Some of the other cast members were already announced, and that talented list includes: Stephen Root ( Who appeared in O Brother, Where Art Thou with Goodman years ago), Michael Angarano, Dermot Mulroney, Kyle Gallner and Melissa Leo. We already know the main premise is about group of misfits that encounter a religious extremist and his followers and things end up getting quite ugly. But until the next tidbits of news for this film surface, Smith fans will just have to imagine Goodman in one of his most chilling roles to date.
Are you looking forward to seeing Red State? Do you think John Goodman will make a good addition to the cast?
