Last week we got the slick addition of Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston as our villain in Len Wiseman‘s Total Recall remake and now, they’ve narrowed down one of the female lead roles. A few weeks ago we reported the long shortlist that could star opposite Colin Farrell, including Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger, Eva Mendes, Paula Patton, Jessica Biel, and Eva Green.

Variety reports that Sony has offered one of the female leads to Jessica Biel, who recently starred in Joel Carnahan‘s blockbuster The A-Team. She would play either Lori, portrayed by Sharon Stone in Paul Verhoeven‘s 1990 original starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Melina, played by Rachel Ticotin.

Mark Bomback (Unstoppable), James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, Zodiac), and Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Law Abiding Citizen) are credited with the screenplay that “involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.” Cranston will play Vilos Cohaagen, “the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.”

Total Recall will hit theaters August 3rd, 2012.

Is Jessica Biel a worthy addition to Total Recall? Do you even want to see this remake?
