Jumping from projects like Zombieland to Holy Rollers, to David Fincher‘s forthcoming The Social Network, the 26 year-old Jesse Eisenberg certainly can’t resist filling his resume with the fun and interesting. The Playlist is reporting that the actor is in talks to re-team with Zombieland director Reuben Fleischer for the lead in 30 Seconds or Less, an action-comedy from a 2009 Blacklist script from Matthew Sullivan and Michael Diliberti. Shooting is set for July, with a release date of August 20th, 2011.

Should he sign on, Eisenberg will co-star alongside the ever-funny Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation). The two would play Will and Chet, respectively, “best friends who fall out after Will confesses that he’s in love with Chet’s sister.” The robbery comes into play when Will runs into the likes of Danny McBride, Nick Swardson (both as “white-trash criminals”) and Michael Pena (as “a tattooed assassin”). The trio evidently fashion a bomb and strap it to Will, cajoling him into knocking over a bank for them. Thus, presuming the action-comedy bent, hilarity ensues.

The premise alone sounds promising enough for a few good laughs at the movies, and the reunion between Eisenberg and Fleischer definitely seems like those promises will be upheld. While a majority of the humor inherent in Zombieland came more from Woody Harrelson’s end than anyone else, Eisenberg has a certain odd charm to him that has served him well thus far. Here’s hoping that he can work up the same kind of laughs alongside Ansari, McBride and company.

What do you think of Fleischer and Eisenberg coming together again? Does Eisenberg’s addition to the cast promise the same kind of laughs that Zombieland provided?
