Nikki Finke is reporting that Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) has been cast in Oliver Stone’s Wall Street sequel. Michael Douglas (Traffic) is returning to star as Gordon Gekko and Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) will be playing a young trader who is engaged to Gekko’s daughter. Finke also states that the filming will start on August 10th and may be released in February, 2010.
It still seems odd that we will be seeing Gekko again. Do we need to? Not at all. I see this as Stone looking for to make a film that actually makes money. Hopefully he doesn’t rush this like W., although I would argue that W. is a good film.
Did you like Wall Street? Are you looking forward to this sequel?
