Bond 23 is happening, but it has been rare that we’ve received any sort of “official” announcement. Most of the news has come from murmurs with involved and semi-involved players. Today, we do not deliver a press release, but we have word straight from our villain, Javier Bardem, who finally confirms his role. The rumors began at the beginning of the year, but now the actor has talked to ABC’s Nightline (via MI:6).
Bardem was asked “about the next villain you are going to play, in James Bond.” He stated “I am very excited, my parents took me to watch the movies, and I saw all of them, and to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”
There you have it, the Oscar-winning actor who terrified us in No Country For Old Men will do the same to Daniel Craig. We don’t have any plot details yet, but Sam Mendes’ film is going under the title Skyfall, and also stars Helen McCrory, Ben Whishaw, Bérénice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, and Rory Kinnear.
Bond 23 will hit theaters on November 9th, 2012 and it is anyone’s guess if we will see Bardem’s other 2012 film, Terrence Malick‘s upcoming romantic drama, sooner than that.
What do you think about Bardem’s confirmation? Read to see him go against Bond?
