Jason Segel, who’s sudden popularity is thanks to the TV show How I Met Your Mother and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, will now not only have a co-writing credit, but also a cast credit to The Greatest Muppet Move of All Time (not an opinion. that’s the name of it.). The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog has the exclusive.

Segel wrote the script along with friend Nicholas Stoller and being directed by James Bobin. The writing credit makes sense, as Segel writes most of his own material we see on screen, television or movie. Acting in a muppet movie isn’t all that hard. Humans play second fiddle to the charismatic fuzzy characters though there is a bit of comfort knowing that someone who knows the script in and out will have an important role. He’ll already know all the comedic cues and timing when shooting begins. Hopefully his writing will bring a bit of ‘under-the-radar’ maturity to the franchise.

Do you think the muppet franchise could use some of Segel’s mature comedy, or stay completely family oriented.
