(500) Days of Summer and Brick star Joseph Gordon-Levitt has replaced Atonement and Wanted‘s James McAvoy in the untitled cancer comedy, previously known as I’m With Cancer. He will now play the lead next to Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The novel, by Will Reisner is a comedic take on “a twenty-something who becomes stricken with the disease”. Rogen told MTV:
It’s incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone’s control have taken James away from the project. But, with James’ blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the [lead] role of Adam. We all look forward to working with James in the future.
Rogen is teaming with Superbad writing partner Evan Goldberg to produce the film. Jonathan Levine is is directing the film. I enjoyed his work with All The Boys Love Mandy Lane and found parts of The Wackness to work quite well. As for Joseph Gordon-Levitt replacing McAvoy, I couldn’t be more happy. He is continually becoming one of my favorite actors. He can next be seen in Christopher Nolan‘s Inception this July.
What do you think about Gordon-Levitt taking over for McAvoy?
