Despite rampant piracy and below average reviews X-Men Origins: Wolverine managed to gross $158 million worldwide its opening weekend. It’s no surprise that a sequel is in development. Variety is reporting Hugh Jackman and Seed Productions are focusing on the samurai storyline from the comic series, teased in one of the after credit sequences from the film. Slumdog Millionaire screenwriter Simon Beaufoy has been approached to scribe, but no deal has been made yet.
Wolverine was a huge disappointment, so I can’t say I’m looking forward to a sequel at all. If Singer returns, count me excited, but I don’t see that happening.
