After an initial red band trailer to establish its R-rated humor, a new “age appropriate” edit has arrived for the Woody Harrelson-led Wilson. Like with many red-to-green edits, the strokes are mostly the same between both, they just cut out all of that nasty cussing (or as some might say, the good parts) in favor of hard cuts or clever audio edits.
The story of Craig Johnson‘s latest film, set for a Sundance premiere, centers on Harrelson’s titular neurotic loner, wading through a life post-divorce and seemingly irritating or offending all in his path. However, Wilson is given a chance to see life through the techni-color glasses of childhood once again when he finds out he’s a father.
What ensues seems to be largely in the realm of dark humor, despite the trailer’s uppity-jazz soundtrack suggesting otherwise. One thing is certain, Woody Harrelson knows how to make even the worst of people sympathetic. See the full trailer below, for the film that also stars the always-magnificent Margo Martindale, Judy Greer, and Laura Dern.
A lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged man reunites with his estranged wife and meets his teenage daughter for the first time.
Wilson hits theaters on March 24th.
