News comes to us today from THR (via The Playlist) that MGM is once again causing problems for upcoming films. First the delated Bond 23, then pushed Del Toro away from The Hobbit, Red Dawn delayed, and now we learn than Joss Whedon’s The Cabin In The Woods will likely not make its January 2011 release. MGM has done nothing with marketing, no trailers at all. THR assumes “it will be pushed to later release dates.”
MGM really has to get their shit together soon because this is getting ridiculous. There isn’t much to go on but a studio insider as commented on the problems going on at MGM. He was quoted as saying:
“We’d be sitting in a meeting with all these problems and $4 billion of debt, and we’d be talking about that night’s Lakers tickets. There was always two MGMs — the old MGM and the Mary Parent MGM. If Mary Parent had her way, the Bond film would come out in November.”
Whedon is only producing and writing the film. The director’s chair will be occupied by Drew Goddard who is making his directorial debut. Stars include Richard Jenkins, Chris Hemsworth, Bradley Whitford, Jesse Williams and Kristen Connolly
