If you want a helping of explosions with your holiday festivities, then we have a treat for you. Following up on a new theatrical trailer for Battleship, another international Japanese trailer has been unveiled. There is a bit more of Rihanna‘s acting debut here and a new look at a battleship vs. alien ship fight scene. It all looks like some of the dumbest stuff ever put to screen, but at least Peter Berg is a more competent director than Michael Bay, so there is still some hope for what looks like a psuedo-sequel to Transformers.
Below the new trailer, we also have a piece from IGN where our director takes over 17 minutes to explain himself regarding the new trailer. It is quite hilarious to seem him justify some of the stupidity going on. Check them both out below for the film starring Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Hamish Linklater and Brooklyn Decker.
Synopsis:
Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.
Battleship hits theaters May 18th, 2012 in 3D.
