Before we get to the trailer for Steven Soderbergh‘s action thriller Haywire, we have some retirement plans to clear up. While at his SDCC panel today, the director said those rumors were blown out of proportion and it was all Matt Damon‘s fault. Check out his quote from Movieline below.
Matt Damon is apparently as discreet as a 14-year-old girl. I had this drunk conversation with him while shooting Contagion and four days later, I read about it in the paper. And he read it verbatim. […] Nobody in this economy wants to hear about someone quitting a good job. That kind of got blown out of proportion. And that’s Matt’s fault.
Now that we can all rest easy, lets get to this sweet footage. In Haywire, MMA fighter Gina Carano stars as a black ops super soldier seeking payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission. The action looks slick, guided by Soderbergh’s gorgeous cinematography. I’m not sure how deep the story will be for this one, but the choreography and approach shown in this trailer sells. Not to mention an ensemble cast that also includes Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano, Matthieu Kassovitz, Antonio Banderas, and I’ll be here day one. Check it out below or on YouTube in HD.

Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. Using her black-ops military training, she devises an ingenious—and dangerous—trap. But when things go haywire, Mallory realizes she’ll be killed in the blink of an eye unless she finds a way to turn the tables on her ruthless adversary.
