“I think we’re being asked to observe the kind of codes of behavior and knowing that there’s feelings starting to merge and row on each side, but, like we all feel when we’re falling in love, not knowing really. Particularly in Carol, not knowing how she feels in return — that it’s easier to imagine Therese’s feelings for Carol than to know exactly what her feelings are for Therese,” Todd Haynes told us when it comes to his new film. “Because Carol seems to have much more to contend with, and more mobility and viability in the world, given the way she operates and how far she’s come, even if she has the complexity of marriage and custody and a child to contend with — and a troubled marriage, in particular.”
With only a week to go until 2015’s best film arrives in limited release, today we have a handful of items of interest. A new U.S. poster has debuted (via Marie Claire) that doesn’t grab our attention as much as the previous ones, but it’s still quite beautiful. Then there’s 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage with Haynes and cast which shows off the making of the film, another masterclass with the director — this time from Zurich — as well as new clips. We’ll have more coverage in the coming days, but in the meantime, check out everything below, along with the new poster.
Carol opens on November 20th in limited release.
