Sebastián Lelio recently had his worldwide breakthrough with his Oscar-winning A Fantastic Woman and his lesbian romance Disobedience, but prior to that, the Chilean-Argentine director earned acclaim for his 2013 drama Gloria. Marking the rare case when the original film’s director steps into remake his own film, the first trailer has now arrived for Gloria Bell.
For this English-language remake, which A24 will release this spring, Julianne Moore steps into the lead role of the character, a divorcée who finds a new romance. Also starring John Turturro, Michael Cera, Caren Pistorius, Brad Garrett, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Rita Wilson and Holland Taylor, it earned a strong deal of acclaim–especially for Moore’s lead performance–upon its TIFF premiere a few months back.
Check out the trailer and poster below.
Gloria (Julianne Moore) is a free-spirited divorcée who spends her days at a straight-laced office job and her nights on the dance floor, joyfully letting loose at clubs around Los Angeles. After meeting Arnold (John Turturro) on a night out, she finds herself thrust into an unexpected new romance, filled with both the joys of budding love and the complications of dating, identity, and family.
From Academy Award-winning director Sebastián Lelio (A Fantastic Woman, Disobedience) comes a sophisticated romantic comedy that shows love can strike at any time, relationships are never simple, and nothing can get you down as long as you keep dancing.
Gloria Bell opens on March 8, 2019.
