There has been rumors of Ghostbusters 3 for awhile now. According to Heeb who spoke to director Harold Ramis, the upcoming installment of the Ghostbusters franchise may be starting production this summer. Check out the quote below.
Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future … GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 … Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans.
It has been a long time since I have seen either Ghost Busters film, but I know Bill Murray still has his comedy chops (as Zombieland proved) and I know I enjoyed the other Ghostbusters films whenever I saw them last. I hope three doesn’t lose touch with what makes the franchise so iconic and after the disappointing Year One, that Ramis still has what it takes.
Are you looking forward to Ghostbusters 3?
