After seeing the trailer for Guy Pearce-starring, Luc Besson-penned sci-fi action romp Escape From M.S. One, I was filled with a warm, fuzzy feeling. With brief stints in noteworthy projects (The Road, The Hurt Locker, The King’s Speech), it seems to have been quite some time since Pearce has tackled a starring role in anything remotely worthwhile (I’m looking at you, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark).
As a big advocate for both The Fifth Element and Serenity, my heart goes out to any fun-loving sci-fi flick that doesn’t necessarily take itself too seriously, and M.S. One seems to fit right in on all counts. Fortunately, we’ve got a closer look at the film in the form of a nice little featurette that you can see below (via FirstShowing):
Co-director Stephen St. Leger talks about Pearce‘s character as if it’s the first time a rough-and-tumble renegade has been put to film, but the featurette highlights Pearce in that trope as the main attraction (which, let’s face it, he is). But, other than a few new quips and quibbles with co-star Maggie Grace, there’s not much else that we didn’t get from the aforementioned trailer.
Also starring Peter Stormare, Escape From M.S. One hits U.S. theaters on April 20th of this year.
Does the featurette get you excited for the film?
