The first U.S. trailer for the cleverly titled WWII drama Land of Mine has arrived, telling the story of a collection of young German POWs, forced to dig up and diffuse over 45,000 land mines for their captors. This conceit implies extreme built-in tension, a la The Hurt Locker, as the soldiers obviously work in extremely close proximity to live mines.
The film is inspired by actual events and has toured the globe at festivals such as Toronto, Hamburg, London, Sundance, and more. Land of MIne is written and directed by Martin Zandvliet, who most recently did A Funny Man, and one can ee the tense trailer below, along with a poster.
As World War II comes to an end, a group of German POWs, boys rather than men, are captured by the Danish army and forced to engage in a deadly task—to defuse and clear land mines from the Danish coastline. With little or no training, the boys soon discover that the war is far from over. Inspired by real events, Land of Mine exposes the untold story of one tragic moment in post-war history.
Land of Mine hits theaters December 9th.
