After roles in two of 2012’s oddest features, Holy Motors and Jack and Diane, pop icon Kylie Minogue is getting back to more familiar territory for his next film. Teaming with Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans, Alice Creed), the actress is set to lead the musical comedy Walking On Sunshine.
Directing duties are being handed to Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini, who gave us the UK dance film StreetDance 3D and will feature a soundtrack of 1980s pop songs as we follow “a mother and daughter who fall in love with the same man in Spain.” Minogue will also reteam with choreographer John O’Connell, after her brief stint in Moulin Rouge.
In other Arterton news, the Quantum of Solace actress has joined another Bond co-hort Hugh Bonneville (Tomorrow Never Dies, Notting Hill) for the romantic comedy The Pre-Nup, set to be directed and written by Jonathan Lynn (Clue, The Whole Nine Yards, My Cousin Vinny)
The project will follow an American groom and investment banker who asks his novelist British bride (presumably Arterton), for a pre-nup the night before their New York City wedding. The male lead, who has yet to be cast, is threatened by his rock star father (likely Bonneville) who demands the document. [The Wrap]
