Critical pans from 2009 notwithstanding, the writers behind the Friday the 13th remake, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, are developing a new, untitled horror project at Paramount. Mary Parent will be producing through her Disruption Entertainment banner.
THR also brings the unfortunate news that any and all details on the pitch are not available — but we do know, thank God, that it will be in a high school setting. Shannon and Swift, who also penned Freddy vs. Jason, are currently working on the upcoming script and are also attached to make their directorial debut with the project.
I, truth be told, haven’t seen the remake of Friday, but I have to think that Shannon and Swift did something right, considering their remake is the second highest-grossing film in the long-running franchise. As of last year, a sequel script to the 2009 film had been written; three years later, that’s probably not going anywhere.
Are you a fan of 2009’s Friday the 13th? Would you like to see another project from Shannon and Swift?
