The more outer space movies the better I (now) always say. Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has hired VFX artist Tim Miller to direct Artemis from screenwriter Andrew Lobel (the currently in-development Tunnels). As far as the plot to Artemis, all we have is that it’s a “contained action-thriller set in space.”
Miller’s VFX work includes the opening credits sequence to 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo directed by David Fincher as well as the Halo 4 launch trailer. Miller is also attached to direct Fox’s adaptation of Marvel superhero Deadpool, but no word on if that’s going anywhere anytime soon.
Although Miller is new to the directing realm, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, since his title sequence for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was pretty much the only worthwhile part of that movie. Plus it’s an action-thriller set in space and that’s just all sorts of in my wheelhouse (despite the fact that another space-set actioner, Lockout, broke my heart due to its wretchedness). Bring on the outer space violence!
Any thoughts on Artemis despite the fact there is really not much to have thoughts on yet?
