In literary blasphemy news, Fox 2000 has bought the rights to produce a fantasy fan fiction novel called The Secret Journeys of Jack London: The Wild [Deadline]. The novel is the first in a series authored by Christopher Golden and Tim Lebbon.

The novel, in the vein of the well-received Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is set to be published in 2011 and involves the epic struggles of a young Jack London as he battles mythical monsters in the Great North, years before writing his legendary novels. The authors will pen the script. Pete Donaldson is set to produce the film.

With Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies also getting production deals, it appears there is a new niche for this sort of story line. Both have been fairly well received, so it is interesting to see how this one will do. Part of me wants to ask “is nothing sacred?” but another part of me is a little bit curious. Let’s see what they are able to do with it.

Have you read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? What do you think of this genre?
