It’s just about that time of year where screeners of all Oscar potential films get sent to Academy members and “for your consideration” ads start popping up all around. First Showing uncovered an interesting one on Variety. Check out the one in question below and a few others, including a list of screeners that have been sent to the Academy so far.
I had to include two for A Serious Man, it’s just that good. You can find more over at Awards Daily. So far screeners of Anvil, Coco Before Chanel, Whatever Works, The Damned United, The Stoning of Soraya M., The Messenger, An Education, Bright Star, Young Victoria, Julie & Julia, District 9, (500) Days of Summer, Away We Go, A Serious Man, Taking Woodstock, Coraline, 9, Pirate Radio, and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee have been sent. These may vary among which Academy members receive particular screeners, but it gives us a good indication what the studios are pushing. As for The Hangover, I don’t think it has a chance in hell outside of a Golden Globe (even the words “for comedy or musical” indicate as much). Keep tuned to The Film Stage for more awards updates as they come.
