From acclaimed Korean director Park Hoon-jung (New World director, I Saw the Devil writer), Witch is the newest addition to his line-up of action-thriller films. Witch tells the story of a girl who, after premature memory loss and a violent upbringing, finds herself in a situation where she must fight against dark and unknown assailants.
The first trailer boasts the necessary cadences of a successful thriller; we already know that Hoon-jung feels comfortable within this genre. Interestingly enough, however, the trailer also suggests that the film may incorporate supernatural elements into its narrative, as the title may suggest. The film stars Park Hee-soon, who has previously worked with Hoon-jung on VIP, as well as Kim Da-mi and Choi Woo-sik (Okja, Train to Busan).
While there are no current domestic distribution plans, it will arrive in June in South Korea. See the trailer and poster below.
