Update: The film will now open on March 14th, 2014.
One of the remaining fall films we had yet to see any footage of was the biopic of Grace Kelly, led by Nicole Kidman. This morning, however, our first look has come in, thanks to a teaser trailer from the U.K. Scripted by Arash Amel, Grace of Monaco centers on Kelly’s behind-the-scenes moves to prevent war between France and Monaco. Not by combat or espionage, but through a series of discussions which convinced their President, Charles de Gaulle, six months to let tax reforms be worked out.
Directed by Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose), the teaser has the elegant look one might expect from the helmer, but there’s not much else we can glean from this short preview. Skipping the initial round of fall festivals and set for a release at the end of November in both the U.K. and the U.S., we expect The Weinstein Company to do an all-out awards campaign for this one. Check out the trailer below via The Guardian for the film also starring Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Robert Lindsay, Paz Vega, Geraldine Somerville, Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Parker Posey and Milo Ventimiglia.
