There are few more perfect trilogies than Pixar’s Toy Story, both in the world of animation and beyond. However, money calls and so the company is continuing its flagship franchise this summer with a fourth iteration. Although not much has been said about the plot for Toy Story 4 thus far, we now have our first inkling, thanks to the debut of the teaser trailer.
“Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy,” reads the new plot synopsis.
In the first teaser below, one can meet this new “toy,” alongside familiar faces. The film is directed by Josh Cooley (who helmed the Inside Out-related short Riley’s First Date?”) and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Joan Cusack, and more.
Update: See another teaser, introducing Ducky (Keegan-Michael Key) and Bunny (Jordan Peele). Pixar also adds, “Woody’s journey in Toy Story 4 includes a visit to a carnival where he meets Ducky and Bunny, two carnival prizes who are eager to be won. But when their plans are rudely interrupted by Woody and his friends, they find themselves on an unexpected adventure with a group of toys who have no idea what it feels like to be tacked to a prize wall.”
Toy Story 4 opens on June 21, 2019.
